Casa Pei is the renovation of a small 60 m² apartment on Paseo de la Habana in Madrid, designed for a young woman with a passion for design and a measured use of colour. Her wish was clear: a home with personality, a place where anyone walking in would know it was hers.

Every decision in the project revolves around that idea. The home’s identity is built through materiality, curves and colour, understood not as isolated gestures but as a single language running through the whole apartment.

The entrance is resolved with hydraulic tiles that act as a fixed rug, welcoming whoever arrives. It is accompanied by a glass-block wall separating the entrance from the living room, letting light through without losing privacy, and a fixed circular window opening onto the kitchen, offering a glimpse of what happens in that space.

Throughout the rest of the apartment, wood extends continuously to create a warm, serene atmosphere in which the rooms follow one another without interruption.

On reaching the bathroom, the project changes scale: a mosaic of small 4×4 cm tiles covers the space and turns it almost into a painting, a small canvas within the home.

All of this is complemented by carefully considered lighting, which lets natural light in at its fullest and ensures that the home belongs, above all, to the person who lives in it.
