Casa Parquelagos is the renovation of a 400 m² detached house in Galapagar, in the Sierra de Guadarrama north-west of Madrid, home to a family with three children. The owners wanted to give the house a fresh feel with renewed finishes, but above all to resolve the technical issues that made their everyday life less comfortable than it should be.

The project starts from a simple idea: architecture is not only about transforming what can be seen, but about improving the way a place is lived in. The intervention therefore addresses both the surfaces and what lies hidden behind them.

The house is renewed from within. New floors, wall finishes and materials give it a contemporary, luminous character, while the addition of underfloor heating, aerothermal energy and solar power makes it more efficient, comfortable and quiet, a home where technology disappears to leave room for a simple sense of wellbeing.

The project also revisits the elements that hold the house together, such as the porch, the stairs and the relationship between floors, so that circulation supports the family's daily life rather than hindering it.

Casa Parquelagos understands renovation as a balance between beauty and function: a house that looks better, but above all, one that is better to live in.
